The 32 sq ft that classifies in the 2.0–2.5%
band sits in two patches — Sta 36–44 and Sta 267–276 — both outlined on the plan by the 2%
boundary line. Nothing on the pad reaches 2.5%.
Why this is a model and not a map
A contour sheet answers the questions you thought to ask when it was
drawn. A site model answers the ones that come up on Thursday.
Any station, any section. The cross-section above is cut live from the surface
at whatever station you pick — not from a set of sections chosen in advance. Every one
of the 2,248 stations along this pad is already in here.
Every point carries its own number. Click anywhere and the model returns the
elevation, the surface slope and — on the pad — the running grade and how it classifies.
A marginal patch off to one side cannot hide inside an average.
The exclusions are visible, not buried. The 0.33% of the strip that was set aside
as material or equipment is a layer you can switch on, so anyone can see what was left
out of the assessment and decide whether they agree.
It stays useful after the question changes. The spec on this pad was 2%. When the
next question is a different spec, a different alignment or a different corner of the
yard, the flight does not have to be repeated.
One flight, many deliverables. The contour map, the grade compliance report and
this model are three views of a single two-hour visit.
This is a photogrammetric model derived from aerial imagery. It is not a topographic
survey and does not constitute the practice of land surveying. Contours and elevations
follow the visible surface — vegetation, vehicles and stockpiles are included as
ground, and the model is not bare earth. Elevations are on a local datum for publication.
It shows where a surface meets a grade spec and where it does not; it does not replace a
staked ground check.
